John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs that he wrote, many of which are situated in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in the love of Colorado and then relocated to Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his adopted state brought many people to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says that John Denver is unlike any other musician who represents Colorado. In 2011 Denver was named the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. To many, Denver is the image of Colorado. Through my travels, I've met individuals from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell people you're from Colorado, the first words they say are"Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads is Denver's only Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time within small Folk Music groups. The song was written by Bill Danoff. Danoff initially wrote the song with Johnny Cash's music in mind, but Denver was aware from the very first time he heard first versions of the song that it would be a big popular. The song was recorded by the singer only a few days afterward after performing it to the awe-inspiring crowd on the streets of Washington D.C.
